DesignArlington'09 Awards Program                

Arlington County announces the inaugural DESIGNArlington’09 awards program to recognize and celebrate design excellence in Arlington’s built environment.  Distinctive architectural, public art, and landscape projects, regardless of size or classification, may be eligible.   Submission deadline is October 16, 2009. According to the Planning Division's Research Section, it is estimated that as of July 1st, Arlington's population reached 210,000 persons and that 207,400 jobs were situated in the County;  a growth of about 5% and 6%, respectively, since 2006.  Major Statistics 2009, July Update.

Four Mile Run Cyclist-Pedestrian Bridge Design Competition

The Four Mile Run Cyclist-Pedestrian Bridge Design Competition will commence in October through a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process published on a Bridge Design Competition website. The future bridge will provide a connection between Arlington and Alexandria in the area of South Eads Street and Commonwealth Avenue.  If you know of any Designers interested in this project have them visit the site at: http://www.4milerun.org/.
